Throughout the year we went over a lot of stuff i liked and stuff i didn’t like. My best aspect i like was Hamlet, i really like the book and the whole storyline. It was one of the few things i really understood throughout the year that wasn’t a struggle for me. I also liked the satire project activities we had, it was really fun and creative.

The only thing i didn’t like throughout the year was probably the Brave New World aspect because i was barely here when we read it and i didn’t really understand the story line, i really struggled with the quiz and tests on it. The book was a hard book to read in my view because there were a lot of high vocabulary words in it and some words i had a hard time trying to pronounce.

In the satire project we learned about the different kind of satires like; horatian satire, juvenalian satire, exaggeration satire, parody, incongruity and reversal satire. We learned about them through videos and activities.

What i learned about satire is that it can be expressed through many ways like for example; juvenalian satire can be expressed through the condemning one thing or only being focused on one thing, another example is reversal parody which is like roles being reversed, such as the baby in family guy being the smartest one in the family even though he is the youngest.

In hamlet and lion king there were a lot of similarities and differences. A few similarities were; Hamlet wanted the actors to play a mouse trap drama and the movie lion king starts up with a mouse trap, also simba’s speech relates to the jesters speech in hamlet that we are all equal in death, Another major similarity is when scar kills mufasa to gain the throne which relates to claudius killing old hamlet to gain the throne.

The differences in the hamlet and the lion king are; Hamlet starts with a tragedy and lion king starts with comedy, In the play hamlet was never saved by old hamlet while in the movie simba is saved by mufasa, another major one is that on the movie simba spares scars life while in the play hamlet didn’t spare claudius life.

I didn’t get the chance to go shadow the career i was actually interested in because i got no call back from them neither did they answer the phone, so i was forced to pick a last minute job to shadow which ended up being at a senior center. we ended up being there from 5:30am to 1:30pm.

We didn’t even end up observing which is what a job shadow is supposed to be but instead we actually worked and served the seniors there, we made their food and everything and later ended up washing all the dishes after they were done eating. It wasn’t actually my ideal image of a job shadow but it wasn’t as bad i will give them that. I mean i did learn how to make dressing and bake chicken which might come in handy in the future.

Apa was really a pain for me to do, i struggled a lot with the citing and making the format correct while trying to make sure i make my paper perfect with no errors to get a good grade but that didn’t go so well. The frustrating part of writing the whole paper was the citing part for me and summary citation, also using the right format.

I know for a fact that i will have to write more Apa papers in the future as i get out of high school, which really scares me because i just wanted to be done with Apa forever after my senior year but it doesn’t look like that is going to be happening anytime soon.

I partially agree with the results from the personality quiz i took. Some areas where spot on and some were just off, like they got my career interests right but on the emotional part they said i was needy but i don’t really see myself as needy… well i don’t think so from my perspective.

I found some things interesting though, like the personality part where they said i was confident, i mean that part i agree with because i feel like i am pretty confident in my work, well sometimes. I also found the career part interesting because, they got my dream career like spot on, which surprised me alot.

Kevin Costner’s character and Beowulf’s character had some similarities and differences. Some similarities are they both kind of intertwined with each other like in their structure and how both their story lines were made, an example will be how Kevin Costner became famous by building the baseball field and how in Beowulf he became famous by defeating Grendel and his mother.
